ABOUT ROCKHAVEN

OUR MISSION
Provide residential supportive treatment services to males, 16 years of age and over, who are committed to abstinence from substance abuse.  Rockhaven empowers males to develop a personal program of recovery in a safe, positive environment.

OUR VISION
To become a leader in the field of addictions and earn the reputation as the organization providing the best quality of services and programs to increase client recovery opportunities.

Since 1969, Rockhaven has provided men with a safe, optimistic environment to facilitate recovery. This program is open to all men over the age of 16 who have a substance use problem. The Rockhaven environment is one in which clients, surrounded by others in similar situations can feel safe while learning how to live a satisfying, substance free lifestyle.

Rockhaven is committed to providing a high level of quality services to eighteen (18) clients. It is the only all male recovery home in the Manitoulin-Sudbury district.

Last year Rockhaven was 78% funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, the balance was covered by fundraising and corporate sponsors.

The counsellors work individually with each client to promote their own personal recovery plan.  The men at Rockhaven are given the opportunity to share their thoughts, feelings and problems in peer group sessions and individual counseling sessions.

Rockhaven is not a rest home, hostel, employment service or hospital; Rockhaven is a HOME, a recovery home.  We recognize that while a man is facing recovery he needs time to reflect and to begin thinking clearly, the maximum length of stay is six months.

Rockhaven is funded partially by The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC). We are proud to be a part of the North East Local Health Integrated Network {LHIN} in Ontario. We are contracted by the Ministry to provide the following Services:

Initial Assessment Program

Using the Standard Ministry Assessment tools, a client is assessed to find the most suitable level of service for that individual. This process allows all substance abuse treatment facilities within the Continuum of Care to develop common language as well as a universal starting point for clients. Using "best practices" the client can choose the best treatment option available that suits his needs.

Residential Support Level 1 Program

To stabilize and provide continuity of services, and better treatment planning, for clients already assessed by the Ministry Criteria.  Rockhaven provides a home with 18 beds in a clean and friendly environment, and related recovery/support services such as coaching for activities of daily living, vocational and lifestyle counseling, mutual aid and community reintegration to men who have demonstrated a commitment to sobriety and a change in lifestyle. This program is open to all men over the age of 16 who have a substance use problem.

OUR PROGRAM

After the initial assessment, the client and staff design a service plan specific to his needs. Every resident must be committed to his own way of maintaining his sobriety, through peer and group sessions, education, volunteering, re-training and recreational activities.

At Rockhaven, our clients are supported while adjusting to a new lifestyle. All residents participate in the design of his service plan, household chores, group activities, and volunteering.

Counselling Staff are available 16 hours a day from Monday to Friday and the house is supervised 7 days a week.
